AVG Anti-Spyware - The best anti-spyware? Yup.
µTorrent - The best BitTorrent app.
foobar2000 - Great resource usage, and it looks clean, without all the crap of WMP and that.
Xfire - The best gametracker, compatible with just about any game you can name.
CDBurnerXP - Much better than Nero or any other burning program. But it does do a lot more than just burning...
CutePDF - PDFCreator is good, but it's not Vista compliant, so that's a con.
SiSoft SANDRA - Ever needed to give your specs to someone? I know I have. Also, great burn-in features.
ID3-TagIT - Easily the best tag editor for Windows, and it's Vista compliant! Great!
Comodo Firewall - The best firewall IMO.
The GIMP - A great image editor.
mIRC - IRC is great.
Mozilla FireFox - Best. Browser. Ever.
Mozilla Thunderbird - Best. E-mail. Client. Ever.
FreeMeter - Got an internet cap? Manage it.
Google Desktop - Great concept, great design, great program, if a little resource hungry at times.
